- The Organizing Committee regretfully informs the membership that one
of our Conference Speakers, Professor Imanuel Noy Meir passed away in
October. Professor Noy Meir was born in Argentina and emigrated to Israel
as a small child in 1950. He received his undergraduate and masters degrees
at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and his Ph.D. at Australian National
University. Dr. Noy Meir was a leading expert on plant ecology in arid
and semi-arid ecosystems, and he was a frequent collaborator with ecologists
in many parts of the world. In 2007 he retired from the Department of
Agricultural Botany of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He will be
missed."
