A boat ride through the majestic Nahuel Huapi lake and hike into tall rainforests dominated by Nothofagus dombeyi and Fitzroya cuppressoides and Pilgerodendron uviferum sphagnum bogs. Trip 8. Araucaria ecosystems: a time-travel to the Cretaceous. A bus travel through the Confluencia-Siete Lagos area into the Rucachoroi- Lago Aluminé Araucaria forest area. On the way north we will be crossing the east west transition with several stops in different forests and scenic locations overlooking woodland, forest and lake landscapes. Several Araucaria forest and woodland locations will be visited to better understand the natural history, biogeography, ecology and conservation of this unique ecosystem.
